Mission:  Facilitating education and management for protection of our economic and natural resources.

 Stakeholders:

  • Native American Tribes

 Strategies:

  1. Increase awareness through education about invasive plants, focusing on:
  • Sources of invasives
  • Economic and ecological effects of invasives
  • Recognition of invasives
  • Prevention of invasives
  • Early detection and rapid response to invasives
  • Control and management strategies for invasives
  1. Encourages legislative and regulatory improvements that increase invasives control effectiveness.
  2. Promote greater coordination between all entities engaged in or affecting invasives management.
  3. Serve as a clearinghouse for invasives management strategies.
  4. Identify and encourage sources of funding for invasives education and management.
  5. Identify invasive species and assess their potential threat for Oklahoma.

OKNRC

The Oklahoma Natural Resources Conference will be held February 22-24 in Tulsa this year.  The OkIPC is a coordinating organization and Priscilla Crawford, OkIPC President, is our representative on the organizing committee.

Registration Open for Invasive Species Meeting

Friday March 13, 2015

The Oklahoma Invasive Plant Council and Oklahoma Pest Action Council are co-hosting a comprehensive invasive species meeting at the National Weather Center in Norman.  The full day conference will incorporate a variety of invasive species issues important to our state, such as: crop weeds and pests, invasive species management, successful biocontrol of invasives, and information on many different invasive species, including invertebrates, pathogens, plants, and mammals.  The effect of invasives on crops, natural areas, and urban systems will be covered.

Registration fee will include full day conference participation, resource bag, lunch, and break snacks and beverages. In-service credits and CEUs will be offered.
